Iowa Primate Learning Sanctuary is now open to the public every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 2:00 PM (CDT) for public tours. The gates open at 1:40 PM each tour day. The tour and presentation lasts about an hour and a half and sometimes longer if the bonobos insist!
A minimum donation of $20 for adults and $14 for children, twelve years of age and under is required for admittance. Public tours are limited to groups of twenty-five individuals. Tickets must be purchased in advance because of limited space. Please make your reservation here. Online ticket sales end one hour before each tour.
The visit includes a building tour and presentation on bonobo care and health by Dr.Gilmore, and “Bonobos 101″ a presentation by Dr. Rumbaugh about who and what are bonobos and the special history of the Iowa bonobos.
Presentations by bonobos Kanzi, Nyota and Teco vary at their discretion. Lecture topics will also vary and be expanded over the course of 2013.
