Stacy Latt Savage is Assistant Professor of Fine Arts/Sculpture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and has exhibited her work at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Skokie Sculpture Park, Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Fuller Museum of Art, Attleboro Museum of Art, Guilford Handcraft Center, and New Bedford Art Museum
Her work has appeared in Covergence Public Art Exhibitions for the City of Providence. She was awarded a commission for the Holocaust Memorial in Buttonwood Park, New Bedford, MA.
She has been a visiting artist at residency programs including the Yew Tree Farm Iron Residency in Suffolk, England, John Michael Kohler Arts-Industry Program, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, and Franconia Sculpture Park. She has won artist research grants and had sculpture reviewed in the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, and Art New England.
In 2009, she curated the Slocum’s River Project for UMass Dartmouth and in collaboration with the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust — a series of six site-specific sculptures installed along the diverse and beautiful landscape of the reserve, created to underscore the relationship between art and nature.
Of her own steel sculpture titled “The Space Between” installed at the site, Stacy says it was an exploration of the complexity of human relationships, “essentially a timeline recording the experience between two people – a portrait of rhythm and flow. The two could be mother and daughter, husband and wife, family members, or friends. Two paths travel from opposite directions, intersect, create energy in between, part again, and continue moving along. This pattern continues, in this manner, indefinitely.”
